As our collection of sex toys expands, we’ve found that our eyes can get bigger than our genitals–it can be so hard to choose which is the right toy for you! To get you started, we’re doing our first in a series Spotlight on Sex Toys. In each one, we’ll highlight one style and tell you what it is and what people love about it. Our goal is to help you find the best choice for your body. Given that, you’ll see we’ve included some honest critical comments, but ultimately we think all our toys are awesome and we wouldn’t carry them if we didn’t think someone like you would love them.

In celebration of two of our new vibes, we’re kicking Toy Style Spotlight off with rabbit vibrators!

What is a rabbit-style vibrator? Rabbit vibes make kind of a “J” shape. There’s generally a bigger (longer and girthier) internal piece which can be for vaginal fullness and/or G-spot stimulation, and a smaller arm (or two) for external stimulation on the clitoris and/or labia. A good rabbit should have two motors–one for the internal piece and one for the clitoral arm. When you’re shopping, you want to look at the curve of the internal piece and external arm as well as the vibration patterns. At Lotus Blooms, we strongly recommend getting a rabbit vibe that allows you to turn off one motor or the other because bodies change over time (we’re talking over the course of a month) and while something may feel GREAT one day, it can be too much the next.

[Fun fact: The dual-stimulation vibrator became known as “The Rabbit” when a couple of the earliest and most popular designs featured a clitoral stimulator that was shaped like a rabbit. Cosmopolitan did a pretty thorough history of the rabbit a couple of years ago. Since then, there’ve been many different shapes and types of rabbit vibes without any animal shapes, and the name sticks partly because the two branches of the vibrator resemble rabbit ears. –Ed.]

Why get a rabbit? Between the internal and external vibrations you’re stimulating a LOT of nerve endings–we’re talking about 14,000!

Get the most out of your rabbit-style vibe: Many people use vibrators for in-and-out penetrative motion. There’s nothing wrong with that–most nerve endings in the vagina are concentrated at the outer third (about 1 inch) so it makes sense to stimulate that as much as possible. With that in mind, your clitoris has 8,000 nerve endings and generally responds to consistent stimulation. In-and-out motions with a rabbit will not do that. Try instead a rocking motion that moves the end of the toy (the end outside the body) towards the front of your body and back to center. No matter what motion you use, lube is a MUST with rabbit toys.

What about butt stuff? Real talk, vaginas and rectums are built differently. Using a toy made for a vagina in your rectum feasibly works but it doesn’t mean it will work well. Plus, it makes cleaning all the more particular as things that have been in the rectum should not go in the vagina. That’s how you get infections and there’s nothing sexy about having to go to the doctor for antibiotics… I don’t care what porn says. Long story short, yes, you can use rabbits in your butt but I wouldn’t recommend it. If you are an insistent adventurer, get a rabbit with a super flexible clitoral arm. And please, please, clean thoroughly and use lots of lube.

On to the good stuff! We have a whopping SEVEN rabbit options in our in-store rabbit vibrator collection right now. So let’s get started talking about them!

The DORR Iora vibrator in hot pinkDORR Iora

This is one of our newer brands and rabbits. Iora has matte silicone (plus some alloy decoration) with a single clitoral arm that is flexible. You can cruise through 8 patterns, 5 intensities, and a turbo mode. Out of our collection, Iora is the girthiest at the top of the internal piece. Learn more about the DORR Iora here.

What we love: the price and the turbo mode

What we would do differently: remove the decoration and cover the plug for worry-free cleaning

Purple Fun Factory Lady Bi vibratorFun Factory Lady Bi

Lady Bi is a very different rabbit–the internal arm is girthiest at the bottom to focus on all those nerve endings at the outer third of the vagina. Lady Bi is also the only one of our collection with a flexible internal piece (the clitoral arm also flexes). It is matte silicone with 7 settings (including off) for the internal piece and 6 settings (including off) for the external arm. Learn more about the Fun Factory Lady Bi here.

What we love: no-drop loop handle and travel lock

What we would do differently: make it not so easy to turn off when in use

The Je Joue Fifi vibrator in blackJe Joue Fifi

Out of our collection, Fifi looks the most like a rabbit–there are two clitoral arms! So you get THREE motors delivering 5 intensities and 6 patterns. This is great for a more diffused clitoral stimulation. Some bodies are very overwhelmed by intense, direct clitoral stimulation; if you are one of them, this is the toy for you! Learn more about the Je Joue Fifi here.

What we love: deliciously rumbly vibes and indirect clitoral stimulation

What we would do differently: make the buttons bigger/easier to see

The L'amorose Prism VII rabbit vibratorL’amourose Prism VII

Our second new brand and new rabbit! Prism VII wins for looking the most like a work of art. Prism VII also has the shortest internal piece out of the options which makes that awesome rocking technique so much easier to do. This slim toy has 8 patterns and 5 intensities of vibration. Those insistent anal rabbit players out there? This is the best choice but (hehe, butt) I will stress again–please get the Je Joue Nuo instead. Learn more about the L’amourose Prism VII here.

What we love: ergonomic/easy-to-hold shape and it stands by itself–no more nightstand dust on your toy!

What we would do differently: make the clitoral arm a little longer

LELO Ina 2

The most classic! Ina 2 has a great girth paired with an awesome tapered tip. Ina 2 also rocks 6 low to medium-high intensities in 8 patterns. The curve of the internal arm is subtle for comfort but great for G-Spot stimulation–arguably the best for G-spot stimulation from a rabbit vibe. Learn more about the LELO Ina 2 here.

What we love: ridiculously easy to use controls and a fab 10-year warranty

What we would do differently: the price

The PicoBong Kaya rabbit vibrator in hot pinkPicoBong Kaya

For the person still clinging on to batteries! We’re mostly kidding but this is the only battery-operated rabbit out of the bunch. Despite not being rechargeable, this toy still has power with 12 vibration patterns and 6 intensities. Kaya also has the longest internal piece which may be your thing if you want to do in-and-out penetration, but that is our greatest criticism of the toy. Learn more about the PicoBong Kaya here.

What we love: the price and oodles of vibe options

What we would do differently: shorten the internal piece for easier rocking

The We-Vibe Nova rabbit vibrator in hot pink and whiteWe-Vibe Nova

For the tech- and rabbit-lover! Nova does something different in that it has a really long clitoral arm that is flexible enough to make a U over the pubic bone or to bend into a 6 against the pubic bone. Nova is also the only *true* rabbit style to be operated by an app (read on for another app-controlled semi-rabbit option). While Nova comes pre-programmed with 10 patterns and 7 intensities, there are infinite possibilities with the app. Learn more about the We-Vibe Nova here.

What we love: the We-Connect app and the serious curves

What we would do differently: change the handle to not be white matte silicone which gets dingy with time

Honorable Mentions

In addition to the lovely options above, we have “honorable mentions” which are not true rabbits but provide internal and external simultaneous stimulation.

The Fun Factory Cayona Mini Vibe, Fun Factory Tiger G5, and We-Vibe Sync vibratorsFirst, we have Fun Factory Cayona Mini Vibe and Fun Factory Tiger G5. Both are flexible and powerful with little nibs for external stimulation–probably not enough to hit the clitoris, but adds a little extra kick–perfect for the people who want to do in-and-out penetration. We love Cayona because it looks like a vulva and has a tip perfect for the G-spot (look forward to it in the G-spot style spotlight). Tiger G5 is a great all-around internal vibe because of the ridges and the return of the no-drop loop handle. Learn more about Fun Factory Cayona Mini Vibe and Fun Factory Tiger G5.

Finally, we have the We-Vibe Sync. The U shape fits around the pubic bone for both internal and external stimulation. Sync honestly stands alone because it does so much–it pairs to the We-Connect app for complete customization, beats to music, has a remote, flexes to fit your body… I could go on. It is rabbit-like because it does the dual internal and external stimulation with a motor in each side of the U. It differs from traditional rabbits because it is designed to be worn during penetrative sex with the clitoral side being larger than the internal side. Learn more about the We-Vibe Sync here.
